Katharina Pistor: How Do We Transform the Laws of Capitalism?
Sattwick Dey Biswas and I, under the Institute for New Economic Thinking’s Young Scholars Initiative (YSI), organized a webinar series on Rethinking Capitalism and Economic Orders, a virtual series for anyone interested in reconnecting economic thought with the real worlds it sought to describe, reform, or transform. Together, we’ll explore capitalism not just as an economic system, but as a lived experience, a political project, and an ideological battleground.
Last week, we hosted Prof. Katharina Pistor, the Edwin B. Parker Professor of Comparative Law at Columbia Law School and director of the Law School’s Center on Global Legal Transformation, as our speaker. Her work spans comparative law and corporate governance, law and finance, and law and development. Her most recent book is The Law of Capitalism and How to Transform It (2025), published by Yale University Press.
